These abortion-planning women are about to lose their souls. Which these protesters are of course attempting to protect by force. Now, what if these protesters are able to take possession of these potentially lost souls they save? And then, maybe, selling them back to the devil, hmm?, so their church can get a new van to drive protesters to clinics. Under that scenario, I think the Hobbs Act could apply.

I think NOW needs to do a bit more discovery.KJhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13749107853987458250noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13022824.post-1141236618215001572006-03-01T13:10:00.000-05:002006-03-01T13:10:00.000-05:00You're welcome. You're welcome.Cassandrahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00083557761155403492noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13022824.post-1141223757463789372006-03-01T09:35:00.000-05:002006-03-01T09:35:00.000-05:00Oh and by the way, thanks for your spot on post sp...Oh and by the way, thanks for your spot on post spd. Sorry I cou...Or if it had Congress in its pocket. Sorry I couldn't resist:)

The attempt to use RICO and Hobbs Act in this context is just as egregious as it was in the 1980s when Guiliani, while he was the US Attorney in NY, attempted--successfully I might add -- to apply RICO's draconian provisions to prosecute alleged white-collar criminals on Wall Street such as Michael Milken and others. The use of RICO in tax cases was later reigned in but not before many businesses and private business figures were "handcuffed" with threats of RICO charges, and what has now amounts to prosecutorial abuse. Same thing with government's attempt to use RICO against the tobacco industry.

Just as troubling though are the headlines such as Supreme Court Rules Against Abortion Clinic", announcing this decision. Talk about bias. As you righly said spd, this case isn't about abortion, and it isn't about ruling against abortion clinics. It's about throwing out a lousy albeit creative legal argument that should not have been applied in the first place. Terry Newman's, president of Operation Rescue, comment that "It's a great day for pro-lifers" is wee bit overstated, don't ya think? It's a great day for Freedom of Speech and Freedom of Assembly, but if you choose to blow up an abortion clinic, Mr. Newman, you're still going to jail.portiahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04787293661302431895noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13022824.post-1141218001820355172006-03-01T08:00:00.000-05:002006-03-01T08:00:00.000-05:00Cass, if that piece didn't put you to sleep, than ...Cass, if that piece didn't put you to sleep, than I suggest you seek professional help.spd rdrhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05543431460609915876noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13022824.post-1141211101180812222006-03-01T06:05:00.000-05:002006-03-01T06:05:00.000-05:00Well now.I read that twice attorney rdr, and latel...Well now.

I read that twice attorney rdr, and lately I've been so tired I've had trouble even getting through anything once.

You've still got it, and not just on the ski slopes :)Cassandrahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00083557761155403492noreply@blogger.com
