Marla Mankowietz shows off her winning form during yesterdays' women's freestyle competition.

ARLINGTON, VA. Nov.13,2005-
Cat tossers from all across the Commonwealth gathered at the Tuckrucker Road YWCA Saturday for the annual meeting of the Virginia Feline Flingers Association. In addition to the traditional "cat-a-pult" and "cat-a-ma-ram," demonstrations, this year's festivities included a slam-dunk contest and cat archery clinic. George Ringwort took the home the prize in the men's cat-a-pult catagory with a direct dumpster hit at an impressive 200 feet. In the women's freestyle event, Marla Mankowietz eeked out a victory over two-time champ Ernestine Blanke by launching "Snowball" a record six times into an open clothes dryer at better than 30 feet. "I practiced hard for this event," Ms. Mankowietz said, "but in the end it all comes down to aerodynamics."

Oh my. Cat toss. Feline fling. Pussy catch. Who needs baseball?

Well, you need baseball to justify the use of the bat.

Hmmm. I'm still thinking about that....

Probably another one of his fantasies Cass, along with scantily-clad women fighting over him and the Red Sox winning. I'm afraid to ask which one tops his list:)

Now Hummer, back to that bat....

I'm good at cat PUNTING. Does that count?

My ex-wife insisted on getting a cat, even though I am a dog person and detest cats. This obnoxious cat (sorry for the oxymoron), loved to lay down in our main hallway and make us walk around his highness.

Well, one day I was carrying in several bags of groceries and didn't see the cat stretched out on the floor. Luckily I didn't step on him, which would have meant certain death, but my foot got under him in my normal stride. The net effect was to launch him a good thirty feet down the hallway. That was the best!

If I had known he was there, and gotten a good wind-up, I bet I could have punted that bastard into the neighbor's yard. Ah well, no use brooding over lost opportunities.:)

Cat punting tryouts will be held on Wednesday, November 16, at 5 o'clock in Ms. Gardenia's back yard. Cats will be provided. All are welcome.
