I had a wonderful week-long vacation from work. I boated, sailed, snorkled, fished, and generally conducted myself in pirate-like manner.
I also have a new appreciation for the inhibition associated with dark rum.
Now I have to pay for it.
I'm open to guest blogging if anyone wants to have their good name associated with this mess.
Shiver me timbers, mateys. Later.

Well helk. I was hoping you would guest blog for me.
Welcome back :)

Aye. Somebody get that sea dog some more Pusser's Rum... neat! Shiver me timbers, indeed.
Welcome back, sailor.
You sail too? Cool.
Check out pictures from my last excursion.
(My boat is the "Olivia II"...)
Nice looking ya-chets you got there camo! Call me if you ever need a deck hand!
Well...I like it. It's not bad for my first sailboat, but someday I'd like one suitable for ocean passages, a catamaran, ideally.
Crossing the Gulf Stream to the Bahamas like that was kind of "pushing the envelope"; the previous year the (basically) same group of us launched out of Key West and sailed to the Dry Tortugas.
Last year for Spring Break I took the boat to Key Largo, and just cruised a bit locally. I like it down there..
Key Largo... oh Lord just let me make it through three more weeks of work :)
The Stream can get pretty violent, camo. The guys that I was pklyaing pirate with had both just suffered violent crossings back from the Bahama's. As far as the cat-thing goes: one of the guys had a 41 footer with a 23 foot beam. Talk about a platform! Yet it'll still do 14 knots under the right conditions. Smokin'.
spd rdr:
The Gulf Stream can get pretty raucous, yes...in fact, our return was delayed by a day because of it. And on the way over, I had to repair a broken rudder rope whilst hanging from the swim ladder in the middle of it...
Arrgh! Splice the main brace after that one, eh?
It was, as they say, an adventure.
