Meme With A Theme
Not so random quotes:
I propose to fight it out on this line, if it takes all summer.
-Gen. U.S. Grant- Dispatch to the Washington before the battle of Spotsylvania Court House, May 11, 1864
The humblest citizen of all the land, when clad in the armour of a righteous cause, is stronger than all the hosts of Error.
-William Jennings Bryan, Speech at the National Democratic Convention, 1896
History will absolve me.
-Fidel Castro At his trial for his raid on the Moncada military barracks, 1953
I am simply a human being, more or less.
-Saul Bellow, Herzog, 1964
Hope I die before I get old.
Pete Townshend, My Generation
The trial transcript quotes Ms. Hayden as saying Murphy called
her a snitch bitch “hoe.” A “hoe,” of course, is a tool used for
weeding and gardening. We think the court reporter, unfamiliar
with rap music (perhaps thankfully so), misunderstood Hayden’s
response. We have taken the liberty of changing “hoe” to “ho,” a
staple of rap music vernacular as, for example, when Ludacris
raps “You doin’ ho activities with ho tendencies.”
- United States v. Murphy, Nos. 04-2032, 04-2293 & 04-2309 at 2, n.1.
Usual suspects: Give me six.
Everybody else, have a party.

OK, but give me the weekend.
Quotes?
Quotes are the vernacular, but bring what you've got.
Hey Spd, what about "Rejoice, rejoice, we have no choice but to carry on?" Hmmm? Good enough for the yearbook but not for your blog? :)
Um...if you haven't yet figured it out, Portia and I have known each other for about 100 years. But she is still older than me.
And it would seem 18 days smarter too, Spd: Correct grammar is "she is still older than I"
You are dead now:) All those who want to see a picture of Spd circa 1972, raise your hands.
Hand up.
There will be a devil to pay, Claudia.
And a handsome devil at that with those shoulder-length locks you sported.... Bring it on.
I do love peoples pics from the seventies.
*drumming fingers on table*
All right, all right, I got carried away. I don't have a picture of Spd Rdr in knickers but I promise you that the yearbook picture I have is right up there with one of those "ya gotta see this" moments. I'm thinking it might be a good addition to round out Heigh-Ho's profile so that it pops up every time Spd Rdr comments...sort of like what happens when that "Lucy" person posts. Cass, you're the resident tech wench, can you help me figure out how do that? If so, we can make good on the "paybacks" you've been promising. At least, one of them:)
I have no objection.
I was a handsome devil, lo those many years ago.
Excellent news, Spd. Does that mean you'll be posting the picture without our help? I hope so... because after all these years/moves, I'm not sure I even have a copy of our yearbook!
*running away again...quickly*
Nor was I serious in my suggestion, Cass. I was just trying to have some fun with Spd after his snarky comment about my age.
But if I ever get my hands on that yearbook....
There exists such a temptation....
In the words of the late great Mae West: I generally avoid temptation unless I can't resist it:)
Fair enough Cass, though I suspect "two females about to gang up on him" is not unfamiliar territory for Mr. Rdr.
